Who we are
The Wandering Words is a monthly short story subscription mailed to subscribers’ homes, based in Greenville, SC. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it’s handled.
Information we collect
- When you subscribe or make a purchase, we collect your name, mailing address, email address, and payment information. Payments are processed securely through Stripe/WooCommerce — we do not store your full credit card details ourselves. If you purchase a gift subscription, we also collect the recipient’s name and mailing address in order to fulfill delivery.
- When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your name and email address through MailerLite, our email service provider.
- When you submit a story for the Inklings contest, we collect your name, email address, submission materials, and payment for the entry fee.
- When you browse our site, standard technical information (like browser type and IP address) may be collected automatically for security and site performance.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Fulfill and ship your monthly subscription
- Process payments and manage your account
- Send you newsletters and updates, if you’ve opted in
- Administer the Inklings submission contest, including judging and winner selection
- Communicate with you about your subscription, an order, or a submission
- Improve our site and services
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Who we share your data with
- Stripe/WooCommerce— to process payments securely
- MailerLite— to manage our email newsletter list
- Shipping/fulfillment services— to mail your monthly issues to the address you provide
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data.
How long we retain your data
We retain subscriber and customer information for as long as your account or subscription is active, and for a reasonable period afterward for accounting, legal, and administrative purposes. Contest submissions are retained for the duration of judging and for a limited period afterward.
Your rights over your data
You can request to:
- See what personal data we hold about you
- Update or correct your information (such as your mailing address)
- Request that we delete your personal data, except where we’re required to retain it for legal, accounting, or administrative reasons

Children’s privacy
